It’s what makes sports in general so captivating, but college football illustrates those highs and lows in their purest form.
It’s easy to forget with how down in the dumps Arkansas has been in the last decade, but the Razorbacks’ heated rivalry with the Texas Longhorns was a cornerstone of the old Southwest Conference for decades.
The rivalry was anchored by the tenures of Texas coach Darrell Royal and Arkansas coach Frank Broyles. Royal took over Texas in 1957, Broyles became the Head Hog the following year and they each retired from coaching in 1976 and served as the ADs at their respective schools.
