Texas A&M football fined $50,000 after NCAA finds evidence of faked injury at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE — Texas A&M's football team was fined $50,000 by the SEC after the national coordinator of college football officiating, Steve Shaw, determined the Aggies faked an injury to slow down Arkansas’ offense during the Aggies’ 45-42 victory at Reynolds Razorback Stadium last Saturday.

The action in question occurred with 12:36 remaining in the fourth quarter following a 13-yard pass from Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green to receiver Raylen Sharpe to the Aggies’ 11. After the Razorbacks had lined up to snap the ball again, Texas A&M cornerback Tyreek Chappell fell to the ground, stopping play for trainers to enter the field.
