Taliyah Brooks faints in heat during heptathlon

Taliyah Brooks, an NCAA champion at the University of Arkansas who lives in Fayetteville, fainted in the excessive heat while warming up to throw the javelin in the heptathlon Sunday during the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore.

Brooks was assisted off the track in a wheelchair, and after receiving medical treatment, her request to re-enter competition was granted by the USATF Games Committee.

She was scheduled to get three javelin throws at approximately 10:15 p.m. Central on Sunday.

The 800 meters — the heptathlon's last event — was scheduled to start about 11 p.
