Takeaways from Arkansas basketball's exhibitions against Cincinnati, Memphis

FAYETTEVILLE — Now it becomes real.

The No. 14 Arkansas men’s basketball team swept its two exhibition games in convincing fashion, defeating Cincinnati 89-61 last Friday at Bud Walton Arena and Memphis 99-75 on Monday at FedEx Forum.

But, as many prognosticators, coaching, players, fans, etc., will tell you, read into exhibitions at your own risk.

The Razorbacks are now finished with their preseason schedule and are looking ahead to their season opener against Southern at 6 p.m. Monday in Fayetteville.

The Jaguars, who under third-year coach Kevin Johnson were picked second in the preseason Southwestern Athletic Conference poll, have strong returning production and have beaten SEC opponents in the past.
