Once upon a time, former Arkansas defensive coordinator Travis Williams’ name carried a positive connotation in Fayetteville.
The 42-year-old took over a Razorback defense that finished the 2022 campaign ranked 124th out of 136 FBS teams in total defense. Williams immediately flipped the unit around to a 47th-place finish in that category, a more than 100 yards-per-game improvement – despite Dan Enos’ offense offering zero support in a 4-8 campaign.
Williams even had prominent support amongst the fanbase to take over as head coach, should Sam Pittman have been dismissed back then.
Just two seasons later, he’s reportedly heading to playoff-bound Texas A&M to serve as the linebackers coach on Mike Elko’s staff.
