ATLANTA — By going 4-8 last season, Kentucky football dipped to its lowest win total since coach Mark Stoops’ first year with the program in 2013, also the last time it went winless in the SEC.
Last season’s in-conference finish of 1-7 wasn’t much better and broke the Wildcats’ eight-season streak of bowl appearances. Kentucky won four straight bowls from 2018 to 2021, with bizarre matching 10-3 records (5-3 SEC) and Citrus Bowl wins in those first and last listed seasons.
“When you have a down year, you have to stand up here, you have to own it, you have to face it,” Stoops said July 17 at SEC media days.
