FAYETTEVILLE — Football historians might look back at Sam Pittman’s 5-plus years as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks and make a final judgment the results were mediocre.
There were remarkable highs — field-storming madness after upsets of No. 15 Texas in 2021 and No. 4 Tennessee in 2024 — and head-shaking lows, so his record of 32-34 indicates the tenure was pretty middle of the road.
But reflecting on Pittman’s years requires a little more in-depth examination.
There’s the question of where he leaves the program compared to the one he inherited. On that front, the answer looks like a resounding “better.
