Sam Pittman has always been one to call a spade a spade.
Early on, when that refusal to varnish the truth came along with digging the Arkansas football program out from the depths into which it had slid from 2017-2019, fans lapped Pittman’s personality up.
The east Oklahoma native’s Razorback fandom came about as honestly as they come, listening to Hog games as a child at his uncle’s service station.
“We’d listen to the Razorbacks on the radio while Uncle Lester was working on one of his cars,” Pittman told ESPN’s Mark Schlabach in 2021. “In between griping at me about handing him the wrong wrench, he’d be ecstatic when the Razorbacks scored.
