COLUMBIA, Mo. — Sam Pittman will coach the Arkansas football team’s game against No. 21 Missouri from the coaches booth Saturday at Faurot Field, according to a team spokesperson.
Pittman, who is scheduled to undergo hip replacement surgery Tuesday, is off pain medication. Standing for extended time is causing the fifth-year head coach extreme discomfort. His hip has been broken since the summer.
“It was at a point in time where it was so close to the season starting that I just didn't feel like I could [miss time with surgery],” Pittman said Nov.
