FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman said Thursday he wasn't entirely surprised when freshman quarterback Madden Iamaleava chose to enter the transfer portal earlier this week.
Reports surfaced Monday that Iamaleava, who enrolled early at Arkansas and went through spring practices leading the third-team offense, had told the staff of his intention to transfer. The news came a few days after his brother, Nico Iamaleava, transferred from Tennessee to UCLA following a reported contract dispute.
Because of Nico Iamaleava's high-profile departure from the Volunteers, Pittman said the staff anticipated Madden Iamaleava could seek to transfer.
