Rookie DBs should have significant, immediate impact

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas defensive backs coach Mark Smith feels like he is marching into battle with more weapons this season, even if a few of them have never played Division I football.

Devin Bush and Greg Brooks enrolled in January and fellow true freshmen Jalen Catalon and Malik Chavis arrived in Fayetteville in June to give Smith a quartet of newcomers to add to his holdovers.

“They are who we thought they would be and it’s the advantage of also having a full cycle to recruit these guys,” Smith said. “There are really no surprises so far.
