FAYETTEVILLE — There may not have been a bigger beneficiary on the Arkansas football team’s offense during last year’s Liberty Bowl victory over Texas Tech than receiver CJ Brown.
Slotted for most of his freshman campaign as the team’s third-string Z receiver — the flanker who typically lines up on the same side of the formation as the tight end — Brown was behind Tyrone Broden and Jordan Anthony on the depth chart.
When Brown’s number was called in the fourth quarter of a tight game against Texas last November, the Razorbacks were driving. He hauled in his first career reception on a pass in the flats that was essentially a screen play.
