Primal Scream Caps Strong Response to Playful Jab + More from Game 1 win vs Texas

FAYETTEVILLE — Fans and coaches alike have been harping on the fact Arkansas needs more innings out of its starting pitchers. Zach Root heard the message loud and clear.

The left-hander racked up a career-high 11 strikeouts in 8 shutout innings Thursday night to give the No. 11 Razorbacks what they’ve been lacking en route to a 9-0 win over No. 1 Texas in the series opener at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Not only was it the longest outing of Root’s career, but it was the longest by an Arkansas pitcher since Hunter Hollan went the distance against South Carolina on May 14, 2023.
