FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas linebacker Bumper Pool added a second accolade Tuesday after his 20-tackle performance at Mississippi State in Week 2.
Pool, who shared SEC co-defensive player of the week honors with teammate and safety Joe Foucha on Monday, has been named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
The junior is the first Razorbacks player since Tramain Thomas in 2010 to earn the award and the fifth to be recognized. His career game vaulted him into the national lead in tackles per game (15.5), and he also sits atop the SEC in total tackles with 31.
