Pittman’s “Blue Light Special” Line Aging Well After Texas Tech’s Flashy New Addition

The first job out of high school or college is usually near the bottom of the proverbial ladder. The people who have been there longer are going to get more money and have more benefits. Once upon a time, a person could put in their time and work their way up. Hell, that was one of the core principles of the American Dream.

Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman knows plenty about this. The El Reno, Okla., native began his coaching career in 1984 as a graduate assistant at Pittsburg State, his alma mater. After spending some time in the high school and JUCO ranks, Pittman landed a job as the offensive line coach at Northern Illinois in 1994.
