Familiarity, they say, breeds contempt. Maybe that’s why Arkansas fans seem almost excited to move on from the Sam Pittman era of Razorbacks football.
On a macro level, Pittman doesn’t deserve the venom spit in his general direction. Four bowl invitations in five seasons is a resume-worthy accomplishment. Pittman has, in several ways, been the most successful Arkansas football coach since Houston Nutt. But Saturday’s loss to Ole Miss served as Exhibit A for fans’ giddy anticipation.
The game was lost in the final 90 seconds when wide receiver Jalen Brown, fighting for the final yard to the sticks after catching a three-yard pass from Taylen Green, was stripped of the ball by Rebels linebacker TJ Dottery.
