After Arkansas’ deflating loss to Memphis, it felt like the writing was on the wall for head coach Sam Pittman. It felt like a matter of when, not if. The beatdown the Razorbacks suffered against Notre Dame on Saturday was the nail in the coffin.
Less than 24 hours after the clock hit zero, Pittman was fired. The 63-year-old compiled a 32-34 record midway through his sixth season in charge, with a 14-29 mark in SEC play. Arkansas was a paltry 1-10 against the spread in home games since 2023, and Pittman’s 7-19 mark in one-possession games was a constant source of frustration.
