Damage control was the Arkansas softball team’s calling card until the seventh inning Friday in Athens, Ga.
The Razorbacks were clinging to a 6-5 lead entering the bottom of the inning after giving up an SEC Tournament record 5 home runs. All the Sooners’ scores to that point were on solo shots, but pressure was mounting on Arkansas with each home run that chipped away at a 6-1 lead.
Two outs from Arkansas punching a ticket to the league’s title game, Gabbie Garcia gave Oklahoma a final home run for extra measure.
Garcia hit a walk-off, 3-run homer well over the wall in center field to give the top-seeded Sooners an 8-6 victory.
