FAYETTEVILLE — After losses at No. 2 Miami and to No. 9 Texas A&M at home by 4 points combined, No. 22 Notre Dame plummeted 18 spots in last week’s Associated Press poll from its No. 6 preseason rank.
In reverse of Arkansas (2-2), the Fighting Irish’s defense granted game-losing scores in crunch time during both losses. The Razorbacks’ offense fumbled away chances to win late in its consecutive losses.
Both teams will cross paths at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium desperately in need of wins.
Notre Dame (1-2), which lost 34-23 to Ohio State in last year’s national championship game, licked its wounds and thumped Purdue 56-30 last Saturday for its first victory.
