Missouri baseball is a far cry from an elite program. The last time it made the College World Series was in 1964, and it hasn’t even made the NCAA Tournament since 2012. And yet, somehow, two of the biggest names in college baseball played together for the Tigers more than 20 years ago.

Arkansas pitching coach Matt Hobbs and Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello have a long-standing history that dates back to their playing days from 2000-02. Their fates have intertwined in the more than two decades since, but they’ve never actually worked together.
