OMAHA, Neb. — Arkansas baseball right-hander Gage Wood threw the third no-hitter in the history of the College World Series on Monday.
Wood struck out a career-high 19 batters during his 119-pitch outing to lead the Razorbacks to a 3-0 victory over Murray State in an elimination game.
Arkansas (49-14) will play another elimination game Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the loser of Monday night’s game between LSU (49-15) and UCLA (48-16).
Murray State (44-17) became the second team eliminated from the CWS. The Racers also lost 6-4 to UCLA on Saturday.
Wood retired the first 21 batters he faced and took a perfect game into the eighth inning when he hit Dominic Decker with a 2-2 pitch.
