No. 6 Arkansas softball blanks No. 10 LSU, wins series behind Payton Burnham's birthday shutout

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas softball pitcher Payton Burnham aged in more than one way Saturday at Bogle Park.

Pitching on her 19th birthday, the freshman blanked No. 10 LSU 6-0 to clinch a series for No. 6 Arkansas in front of an announced crowd of 3,803 on hand for the rubber match.

The Razorbacks (38-11, 14-10 SEC) turned to the right-hander after giving up a combined 22 runs in the first two games of the series. Burnham validated Arkansas coach Courtney Deifel's trust in her to turn things around.

Burnham did not look the part of a freshman in her 7-inning, 79-pitch outing.
