New Regime in Fayetteville Can Learn Much from Arkansas’ Third College Football Dynasty

It has been more than three decades since the state of Arkansas has been home to a national powerhouse the caliber of Harding University.

The small private school in Searcy has deployed a nearly extinct offense and complemented it with a stingy defense to build one of the best Division II programs in the country.

Harding is vying for its second national championship in three years Saturday, taking on fellow powerhouse Ferris State — winners of three of the last four D-II titles — at 3 p.m. CT in McKinney, Texas. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
