BENTONVILLE — The transfer portal in college athletics has been churning at full speed for a few years now, with thousands of players changing schools every offseason with massive roster turnover.
But in a far less official capacity, transfers are becoming an increasingly common occurrence at the high school level. This isn’t exactly a new phenomenon.
Highly-touted guard Malik Monk moved from his small hometown of Lepanto, Ark., to Bentonville High in 2013. He went on to reach five-star status, starring for Kentucky and becoming an NBA mainstay. More recently, former Razorback linebacker Mani Powell moved from Canton, Ohio to Fayetteville for his senior year of high school.
