FAYETTEVILLE — Marshall transfer infielder Maika Niu has committed to the Arkansas baseball team according to D1Baseball’s database.
Niu started 54 games this year with the Thundering Herd and batted .276 with a team-best 52 RBI, 15 home runs and 14 doubles. He drew 25 walks and struck out 51 times.
The 6-1, 180-pound native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., is eligible for next week’s MLB draft.
Nui had a .892 fielding percentage with 33 errors in 296 total chances. He primarily played shortstop at Marshall.
He has been a standout performer this summer for the Falmouth Commodores at the Cape Cod League.
