The hardware just keeps piling up for Wehiwa Aloy. The Arkansas baseball shortstop nabbed his latest accolade in the form of the prestigious Golden Spikes Award on Saturday evening.
The star junior, whose name translate to “The Prized One,” was given the award the nation’s best player in Omaha ahead of Game 1 of the College World Series finals between LSU and Coastal Carolina. The Tigers’ dugout showed great sportsmanship by congratulating Aloy on the achievement, though the Hawaiian undoubtedly felt like it should have been him and his teammates on that field this weekend instead.
