FAYETTEVILLE — Lou Holtz, the man whose coaching legend straddled great days at Arkansas and Notre Dame, was on hand to pay tribute to the schools on Saturday.
Holtz, 88, served as the honorary game captain for the Razorbacks and was escorted to midfield by former Arkansas quarterback Kevin Scanlon and former Notre Dame quarterback Steve Beuerlein during the pregame festivities.
Holtz led Arkansas to a 60-21-1 record and 6 bowl games from 1977-83, including an 11-1 campaign and huge 31-6 Orange Bowl win over No. 2 Oklahoma in his first season.
He went 100-30-2 in 11 years at Notre Dame, leading the Fighting Irish to a 12-0 record and their most recent national championship in 1988.
