LIVE UPDATES: “V-Day” Takes on New Meaning in Hogs’ Season Opener vs WSU

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas baseball opened its highly-anticipated 2025 campaign with a pair of victories over Washington State in an Opening Day doubleheader.

In the first leg of the Valentine’s Day clashes, the Diamond Hogs never led until the 10th inning — when a walk-off sacrifice fly from Brent Iredale gave them the 3-2 win. The final frame was a small-ball masterpiece from Arkansas, drawing three consecutive walks to load the bases with no outs. A wild pitch brought home the tying run before Iredale’s fly out secured the win. Gabe Gaeckle was excellent in his season debut, tossing five scoreless innings, only allowing one hit and striking out seven batters.
