Key Cog on 2022 CWS Team Represents Best-Case Scenario for Hogs’ Latest Transfer

Dave Van Horn continued to cross things off Arkansas baseball’s offseason checklist Tuesday by landing a commitment from Missouri State transfer outfielder Zack Stewart.

The standout right fielder comes to Fayetteville after three solid seasons in Springfield and fills a major need for the Razorbacks, who will most likely have to replace their entire outfield for the third straight year.

According to 64Analytics, Stewart is the 30th-best player in the portal this cycle and checks in at No. 7 among outfielders. That makes him one of the headliners of Arkansas’ five-man transfer haul so far.

The Razorbacks’ previous additions as they’ve looked to reload after a run to the College World Series semifinals include shortstop Dylan Grego (Ball State) and a trio of pitchers — right-handers Jackson Wells (Little Rock) and Jackson Kircher (Oklahoma) and left-hander Ethan McElvain (Vanderbilt).
