In separate interviews, Jerry Jones, SMU coach Rhett Lashlee address Arkansas football job

SMU football coach Rhett Lashlee addressed reports he is a candidate for the head coach vacancy at Arkansas during his weekly news conference Tuesday.

Lashlee, a Springdale native and former Razorbacks quarterback, his been widely regarded as a top potential option for Arkansas after it fired Sam Pittman and named offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino interim coach Sunday. Petrino is also a candidate for the full-time role.

“I’m happy. I’ve got a great job," Lashlee said. "I think when your name gets linked to jobs it means your team has done well, your program has done well, so it’s a compliment to what our staff, administration and players have built over the last three-plus years.
