In letter, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders calls for annual Arkansas football game vs. Arkansas State at War Memorial Stadium

FAYETTEVILLE — In a letter sent to university trustees of both schools Sunday night, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders requested Arkansas and Arkansas State to play an annual football game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

The letter came one day after the Razorbacks defeated the Red Wolves 56-14 at the stadium in the first game between the programs. Attendance was announced as 54,224 at the 54,120-seat stadium.

The state-run Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism oversees War Memorial Stadium. Sanders appoints trustees for both the University of Arkansas System and Arkansas State University System.
