If Mike Washington Jr. Is Cedric Cobbs 2.0, Why Has It Taken So Many Years to Show It?

FAYETTEVILLE — None of Arkansas football’s newcomers received more preseason praise than Mike Washington Jr.

After racking up several big plays in the Razorbacks’ scrimmages, the New Mexico State transfer flashed what the coaches had seen all offseason in Saturday’s 52-7 season-opening win over Alabama A&M.

Granted, it was in a blowout against a team predicted to be middle-of-the-pack in the SWAC, but Washington showed glimpses of another great Arkansas running back who wore No. 4 with a similar frame and rare combination of power and speed – Cedric Cobbs.

While Washington didn’t eclipse the century mark on the ground, he accounted for 105 total yards.
