FAYETTEVILLE — After Hunter Yurachek announced the firing of Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman on Sept. 28, the Arkansas athletics director said the sixth-year coach had not been given an adequate financial commitment to succeed in the SEC. He cited figures that put Arkansas “toward the bottom” of the league in terms of budget.
On Thursday, as he introduced new head coach Ryan Silverfield, Yurachek was quick to highlight a “significant” commitment to the football program.
“The top-down alignment of a new financial commitment from our board of trustees, the university, the department of athletics and so many generous donors that have taken place over the past several weeks was the first step to us being all in on this goal,” Yurachek said.
