FAYETTEVILLE — For all the talk of a retooled, dynamic offense over the offseason, Arkansas ended up resorting to its tried and true method of simply mashing. Tennessee was on the receiving end of that this weekend.
A third-inning grand slam by Ryder Helfrick gave the No. 8 Razorbacks a lead they wouldn’t relinquish and Wehiwa Aloy added a solo shot for insurance en route to an 8-4 win over the No. 17 Volunteers in Saturday’s rubber match at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Arkansas used a similar formula to even the series a day earlier, when it homered off SEC Pitcher of the Year favorite Liam Doyle three times in an 8-6 win.
