FAYETTEVILLE -- True recruiting story: One day University of Arkansas men's golf Coach Brad McMakin opened his email and there sat an out-of-the-blue letter from blue-chip prospect Julian Perico.
"It said, 'I'm Julian Perico and I'm coming to the University of Arkansas. By the way, I just won Junior Worlds at Torrey Pines. I set the record for Torrey Pines at 15 under and I'll be attending the University of Arkansas,' " McMakin recalled this week.
NOTEWORTHY Posted six victories on the junior golf circuit, including the IMG Junior World Championship at Torrey Pines in 2017. … Won the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate with a 54-hole score of 197, a course and school record.
