History Shows Game 1 of Fayetteville Super Regional a Must-Win for Arkansas

The wait is finally over, as the highly-anticipated Fayetteville Super Regional between No. 3 Arkansas and No. 14 Tennessee starts Saturday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn’s squad is the highest remaining seed in the NCAA Tournament, but will be tasked with seeing off the defending national champion Volunteers, led by his former protegee Tony Vitello. Not only are both fanbases fully riled up for this high-stakes matchup, but the rest of the college baseball world will be tuned in, as well.

The Razorbacks will send first-team All-SEC left-hander Zach Root to the mound to start, and the Arkansas ace will have the benefit of a full week’s rest after the regional – a rare luxury in the postseason.
