Heat forces Hogs indoors

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas' first day in half-pack started outside, but finished up indoors.

Wearing shoulder pads and thigh pads for the first time this fall, the Razorbacks practiced on their outdoor practice fields for 18 periods before spending the last several periods in the Walker Pavilion.

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema announced the decision on Twitter a couple hours before practice, as the heat index soared over 100 degrees for the third straight day.

"I was counting down those periods as much as you guys were," Bielema told the media after practice. "We've been coming in at the end of those practices and it just feels like you're stepping into a refrigerator compared to what's going on outside.
