FAYETTEVILLE — Newness has been a theme for the Arkansas women’s basketball team since Kelsi Musick took over as head coach nine months ago.
First, she had to assemble a new roster and staff, though both had key holdovers from the previous year. Then came the part that doesn’t happen overnight: establishing a new culture, new system and new identity for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas (11-4) is now hoping to ring in the new year with an SEC-opening upset when the Razorbacks host No. 12 Vanderbilt on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena.
The last time the Razorbacks took the court, their newness was evident when they committed 29 turnovers in an 81-72 loss to Arkansas State on Sunday.
