OMAHA, Neb. — The biggest threat to Gage Wood’s masterpiece Monday afternoon wasn’t a Murray State batter, an Arkansas coach or even an umpire, but rather another Gage.

Gage Goodwin, the Razorbacks’ batboy and 11-year-old son of director of baseball operations Clay Goodwin, violated one of baseball’s unwritten rules by mentioning what was unfolding before his eyes at Charles Schwab Field.

“No one talked about it except for ‘G Baby’ in the eighth (inning),” Charles Davalan said with a smile, referring to the batboy by his nickname.
