FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas baseball right-handed pitcher Gage Wood has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies for a $3 million signing bonus, according to MLB.com.
Wood was selected by the Phillies on July 13 with the No. 26 overall pick in the MLB Draft.
“Worked my whole life for this," Wood told PhilliesNation, "so this is a blessing and I’m ready to get going.”
His signing was for about 89% of the slot value for the No. 26 overall pick, coming in at slightly less than former Razorbacks shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, who signed with the Baltimore Orioles for a reported $3,042,800.
