First Look at Gage Wood’s Skyrocketing MLB Draft Stock after Cutting Heart Out of Murray State

After losing the opening game of the College World Series to LSU, Arkansas knew it would need to pull the improbable to make a run through the loser’s bracket.

Starting pitcher Gage Wood gave them just that against Murray State by tossing just the third no-hitter in MCWS history.

Wood threw a career-high 119 pitches, striking out 19 batters while allowing zero walks and, of course, zero hits. It’s the first no-hitter in Omaha in 65 years. Oklahoma State’s Jim Wixson in 1960 was the last to accomplish this feat, and Texas’ Jim Ehrler in 1950 was the first and only other — enter the Rooster.
