John Mateer isn’t the only one in Oklahoma’s locker room these days who’s been “making” a bet or two.
In the senior quarterback’s case, there’s obviously a question of whether the Venmo transactions heard round the college football world are legit or not. The former Washington State standout did, after, title the payments as “sports gambling.” One transaction even specified it was a payout for a UCLA vs USC game – the timestamp was for the day after the game.
Mateer denied that the payments were for gambling in a statement posted to Twitter on Tuesday, claiming that the captions were “inside jokes” among friends.
