Arkansas vs Notre Dame was supposed to be a high-scoring affair. The Razorbacks ranked a lowly 73rd nationally in scoring defense entering the matchup, but the Fighting Irish had somehow been worse at a paltry 119th.
The popular sentiment was that Arkansas’ offense was at least good enough to keep up. Even Vegas had the Hogs as just a one-score underdog. Yet the Razorback defense found a way to undercut fans’ already rock-bottom expectations in the first half.
The Fighting Irish thundered for 420 total yards and 42 points in the first 30 minutes, scoring touchdowns on all six drives.
