Two years ago, Arkansas was in desperate need of revamping its offensive line. At the top of its priority list was securing a left tackle from the transfer portal.

The Razorbacks dipped into the Group of Five ranks to do just that, landing coveted transfer tackle Fernando Carmona from San Jose State.

Arkansas finds itself in a similar position heading into 2026 and one of the spots it must fill is Carmona’s. First-year coach Ryan Silverfield seems to have checked that off his list quickly by convincing Malachi Breland to follow him from Memphis to Fayetteville.

The 6-foot-5, 340-pounder started 19 straight games for the Tigers before hitting the portal upon Silverfield’s departure.
