OMAHA, Neb. — Arkansas staved off elimination once again at the College World Series and the biggest moment came right out of the gates Tuesday night.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the opening frame, UCLA’s Dean West attempted a rare steal of home and was cut down on a bang-bang play at the plate. Instead of striking first, the No. 15 seed Bruins wasted the opportunity and watched as the No. 3 seed Razorbacks ended their season with a 7-3 win at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
Left fielder Charles Davalan identified it as a “huge momentum” play because there’s no telling how differently things would have unfolded had the call not been confirmed after UCLA challenged it.
