The same man who killed the Arkansas vs Memphis basketball rivalry is now in position to potentially bring it back.
Arkansas basketball coach John Calipari, who infamously canceled the series as the Tigers’ head coach in the early 2000s, took a step toward that with Tuesday’s formal announcement of a long-rumored exhibition at his former school.
It won’t count as an official game, but the Razorbacks will face Memphis at FedEx Forum as part of the St. Jude Tip Off Classic on Oct. 27. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, following a Memphis-Vanderbilt women’s basketball exhibition, and it will be televised on ESPNU.
