Center fielder Andrew Benintendi added to his trophy case on Thursday afternoon when it was announced that he’d collected the Baseball America National Player of the Year Award.
The left handed hitting Benintendi reeled in his third award in one month and second National Player of the Year Award. At the end of May, he collected the SEC Player of the Year Award and days later earned the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Year Award. He’s still just one of four finalists for the Golden Spikes Award and one of five finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, which are very recognized in college baseball.
