Arkansas women’s basketball started hot and never trailed in a 79-72 victory over Drake on Tuesday at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
The Razorbacks led by as many as 18 and for all but 44 seconds in the wire-to-wire win. They had six players score at least nine points, led by 15 from senior guard Taleyah Jones.
Arkansas (6-1) will look to go unbeaten over its two-day stay at the invitational when they face Southern Illinois on Wednesday. Tipoff against the Salukis is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
Defensive pressure was the recipe for success against the Bulldogs (1-4), who were sloppy with the ball and forced into rushed shots due to a Razorback full-court press.
