No matter how good they are on the recruiting trail, every coach will eventually have a story of the player who got away.
While he won’t admit it, even the legendary John Calipari doesn’t shoot 100%. The same is true of former Arkansas basketball coach Eric Musselman, although he’s shown to be much more open about his misses.
That very subject came up during a recent interview with CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, who asked the second-year USC basketball coach to name one recruit he “salivated for” but couldn’t reel in.
Musselman pondered for a second before sharing a name that should be familiar to Arkansas fans who relished the idea of inking the best big man to come out of central Arkansas since Bobby Portis.
