Arkansas rallies late to beat Mississippi State, earn bowl eligibility

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas running back Dominique Johnson ran for a 4-yard touchdown with 21 seconds remaining and Mississippi State missed a 40-yard field goal attempt as time expired to give the Razorbacks a wild 31-28 win over the No. 17 Bulldogs on Saturday.

Mississippi State freshman kicker Nolan McCord pushed the potential game-tying field goal wide left to the roar of an announced crowd of 68,818. The Bulldogs got into field goal range after quarterback Will Rogers completed three consecutive passes of 17, 13 and 23 yards.

Johnson’s game-winning touchdown came after the Bulldogs took a 28-23 lead with 2:22 remaining.
